New Rectangular Marshmallow!
July 20, 2011
Hark! Kraft has released a new version of the typically cylindrical marshmallow. Now this is fine product design. Marshmallows have been cylindrical since the 1950s when American Alex Doumak invented a way to automatically manufacture the confection. Mini marshmallows are so last decade.
When was the last time you had a s’more? Behold how easy it is now to place the flattened marshmallow onto the chocolate or graham cracker. The length of the Stacker Mallow lines perfectly with the graham cracker’s length. The cracker, marshmallow, and chocolate all align for one solid, sweet sandwich. The thin rectangle also quickens the toasting time in the oven and provides a nice proportion to the chocolate. Be honest, the cylindrical marshmallow often over empowered/ smothered the chocolate, right?
It’ll be interesting to see how the Ligonier Marshmallow Festival will incorporate this new shape into their festivities. Yes, it’ll be the 59th year when the Indiana town holds their marshmallow festival this September 3-5 so mark your calendar. Happy Toasting!
